In this article we will discuss following things:

Each item contains all its information on an item details screen. Configuring this screen means that you can decide what fields should be visible to the project users. An item screen settings are reflected in items detail view and pop-up view.

  • A project user can only view and enter values in fields that are added in its respective screen.
  • These settings are a project and item type specific.
  • By default, each item is associated with a default screen of its respective item type.
  • Built-in default screens show all available item system fields in Item detail and pop up views.
  • You can define your own customized item screens to add custom fields or remove any system field.
  • Same Item Screen can be associated with multiple projects.
  • Item´s Quick Add option available on each Yodiz board follows your Project Screen preferences. The “Required” fields always appear on the Quick Add dialog and cannot be toggled off.

1. Default Screen

Default Screen is the built-in settings of item view that displays all item system fields. Each item type has its own defined set of System Fields. Default Screen settings are not editable and you cannot add custom fields in such screen. You can duplicate this default screen and customize it according to your project needs.

If you want to hide some of System Fields or want to add Custom Fields to an item e.g., User Story view, then design a new screen for User Story and associate it with your project.

2. Custom Screen

A Custom Screen is customizable item screen where you can add or remove Custom Fields in addition to Default System Fields. To create a Custom Field and associate it with a Screen, you need Super Admin rights. Learn more about custom field and screen creation.

3. Edit Custom Screen

Item screens are Item type specific and defined in your project settings. One screen can be used by many projects. Be aware that change in one screen will impact all those projects who are associated with the same screen.

To edit an item screen:
  • Select Item Type from item types bar
  • Locate your project screen and duplicate your current project screen
  • Make changes in screen name and set item fields by adding or removing fields
  • Associate your project with the screen and save changes

4. Delete Custom Screen

At the deletion of a custom screen, all its associated projects will be associated with default screen. Association with any custom fields will be terminated. Although, custom field values against existing items will remain intact but not visible to the users.

Note: Default Screen can not be edited or deleted

To delete an item screen:

  • Select Item Type from item types bar
  • Locate your project screen and click on delete button
  • Confirm the deletion disclaimer
  • Your project is listed under Default Screen associated projects now
  • Go back to the project items to see the changes
