Generally following items are mapped to different panels

  • On Sprint Board, if you select type “Scrum” then on panels you can only map Issues and Tasks
  • On Sprint Board, if you select type of sprint to “Kanban/Scrumban” then on panels you can only map “User Stories” and Issues
  • On Release Board, you can only map “Issues” and “User Stories” to panels
  • On Issue Board, you can only map “Issues” to panels

Only items that can swim across panel lanes are mapped. For example, on Sprint board of type “Scrum”, user stories remain in the same panel of “Sprint Backlog”, however, the tasks and issues associated to User Story swim across lanes.

Similarly on Sprint board of type “Kanban/ScrumBan”, user stories and issues swim across lanes. If teams work mostly at User Story and issues level and tasks are not important then probably this Kanban/ScrumBan style board is more suitable.

Note: To change sprint type, simply edit sprint and on basic details tab at end of page there is radio selection “Scrum” and “Kanban(ScrumBan”). You can change the sprint type at any type, it will not impact your data, only the board layout would change. Also, you can revert back this change any time.
